This conference brings together researchers, industry, end-users, law-enforcing agencies and citizens groups to share experiences and explore areas where additional research, development and better working practices are needed, identify possible collaboration and consider the societal impact of such technologies. ICDP (and its predecessor IDSS) has traditionally been a special meeting point of different disciplines (computer science, social science, engineering, management, etc.) and an opportunity for a wide range of stakeholders to discuss the many different aspects of the application of imaging technologies in this socially crucial domain.
Two Madrid universities (Carlos III and UPM) and the EU LASIE project co-sponsored by the IET, IEEE (UK and Ireland Social Implications of Technology Chapter, plus AES10, CAS04 and SC28 from the Spain Section), the BMVA, Queen Mary University of London and University College London are working together to organize this well-known event.
Madrid, November 23-25th 2016
Locating devices in indoor environments has become a key issue for many emerging location‐based applications (LBA) in different fields. However, contrary to what usually happens outdoors with well‐developed GNSS technology, nowadays there is no overall and easy solution. Despite a large‐scale deployment of such location systems is not available yet, this strategic topic is called to lead technological innovations of great impact on the daily activities of people in the coming years, in areas such as health and independent living, leisure, security, etc. Since the first edition, IPIN 2010, held in Zurich (Switzerland), this conference has been an excellent forum to bring together researchers, developers and service providers in positioning and indoor navigation. The 2016 edition will be held in the University of Alcalá, Spain.
