SUMMARY:IEEE PES ESPAÑA | | Development of the Swedish power system and key stability aspects
DESCRIPTION:IEEE PES ESPAÑA | | THE ENERGY TRANSITION | Towards a DECARBONIZED ENERGY |\nDevelopment of the Swedish power system and key stability aspects\nEstimados Miembros del Capítulo IEEE PES ESPAÑA y de la comunidad de sistemas eléctricos de potencia\,\nDear IEEE PES Spain Members and Colleagues from power and energy community\,\nContinuing with the series on the topic\nLA TRANSICIÓN ENERGETICA | Hacia una ECONOMIA DESCARBONIZADA\nTHE ENERGY TRANSITION | Towards a DECARBONIZED ECONOMY\nThe energy transition towards a decarbonized economy will present a relevant challenge and a crucial transformation faced by our Society; Decelerating climate change effects is becoming a moral commitment.\nAs a society\, we are part of the decarbonized energy process that goes through the electrification of the economy and it is supported by renewables within a sustainable energy model.\nThis means a change of paradigm which heads towards an immediate exciting future full of challenges at all levels associated with flexibility in its widest conception. It is assumed that a change of paradigm\, that requires changing the focus from active based asset management towards the digitalization that ensures resiliency and security for the future electric systems.\nIn this context\, we need to contribute and stimulate the exchange of ideas from different perspectives and experiences\, creating a framework of reflection through these series of webinars. The expected benefit and impact is the identification of opportunities within the complexity associated with the change of paradigm.\nEn este seminario\, la Dra Marina Oluić (Svenska kraftnät\, Suecia) nos hablará sobre el desarrollo del sistema eléctrico de Suecia y los retos clave asociados a la estabilidad.\nTítulo: Development of the Swedish power system and key stability aspects\nPonente: Marina Oluić (Svenska kraftnät\, Sweden)\nFecha: Jueves 23 de enero\, 2025\nHora: 16:30 – 18:30 (CET)\nIdioma: Inglés\nFormato híbrido: asistencia online o presencial\nLugar: ETSI ICAI\, Universidad Pontificia Comillas\, Alberto Aguilera 25\, 28015 Madrid\, Madrid\, España. Aula Pérez del Pulgar.\nSeminario gratuito\nContenido:\nThe power system is changing rapidly\, which creates major challenges for the system operational reliability\, stability and balancing. We are moving towards a power system with a higher share of weather-dependent electricity production that is connected via power electronics/converters\, while at the same time the predictable electricity production constitutes a decreasing portion of the total volume. Generation is also increasingly connected to the distribution system instead to the transmission system\, and more large loads/consumption facilities are being present. There is also a geographical redistribution of both electricity production and consumption\, which leads to changed power flows. In addition\, more converters are being commissioned elsewhere in the power system\, for example in HVDC systems\, battery storage and end users in energy-intensive industries\, etc. These are just some of the challenges that the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) worldwide are facing nowadays.\nIn this specific seminar\, Marina will briefly present the main mission\, task\, role and collective responsibility of the Swedish TSO (Svenska kraftnät) while particularly focusing on:\n– the ongoing and foreseen development of the Swedish power system and on\n– the key stability aspects (as well as related challenges/opportunities and potential measures) that follow this development and are to be addressed in order to tackle the energy transition.\nFinally\, as the IEEE PES Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Initiatives Member\, Marina will close the presentation by reflecting upon the DEI mission and its current activities.\nLa participación en estos seminarios es abierta a cualquier asistente\, incluyendo miembros de IEEE/PES y no-miembros. El acceso al REGISTRO es:\nhttps://events.vtools.ieee.org/event/register/462137\nFor further information:\n: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/event/register/462137\nThe IEEE PES ESPAÑA System issues participation certificates in these to the attendees under request. The necessary condition for the System to issue the certificate is that the attendee must participate with at least one voice question during the question time.\nLooking forward to seeing you.\nUn cordial saludo\,\nRoberto Rocca\, Secretario\, Directiva de IEEE/PES Spain Chapter\nJavier Renedo\, Vocal de relación con la industria\, IEEE/PES Spain Chapter\n(http://enotice.ieee.org/link.cfm?r=2t13DaV1ZQMWdxFUYxE9AA~~&pe=2r6s6cq1ZHJVREEnjcPg615Ax6pY5bB2EtOtT4-0u2m72qPy0vZwRE9mo5IxUHTUd3basEhCJ_h0e96RcJiJxA~~&t=dWSU4qsc8D7Oq-bfMacKwQ~~)\,\n(http://enotice.ieee.org/link.cfm?r=2t13DaV1ZQMWdxFUYxE9AA~~&pe=6KDWid33EaTBI-e5_Rs9WqK142A_ryE8sq-2yQP_PxO6C0QjIOxeNlOScNiFfqtUlnufeNysO01BgoUQ8lmAKA~~&t=dWSU4qsc8D7Oq-bfMacKwQ~~)\nSpeaker(s): Marina Oluić\nRoom: Aula Pérez del Pulgar\, Bldg: ETSI ICAI\, Alberto Aguilera 25\, Madrid\, Madrid\, Spain\, 28015\, Virtual: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/m/462137
