IEEE PES ESPAÑA | | THE ENERGY TRANSITION | Towards a DECARBONIZED ENERGY | Development of the Swedish power system and key stability aspects Estimados Miembros del Capítulo IEEE PES ESPAÑA y de la comunidad de sistemas eléctricos de potencia, Dear IEEE PES Spain Members and Colleagues from power and energy community, Continuing with the series on the topic LA TRANSICIÓN ENERGETICA | Hacia una ECONOMIA DESCARBONIZADA THE ENERGY TRANSITION | Towards a DECARBONIZED ECONOMY The energy transition towards a decarbonized economy will present a relevant challenge and a crucial transformation faced by our Society; Decelerating climate change effects is becoming a moral commitment. As a society, we are part of the decarbonized energy process that goes through the electrification of the economy and it is supported by renewables within a sustainable energy model. This means a change of paradigm which heads towards an immediate exciting future full of challenges at all levels associated with flexibility in its widest conception. It is assumed that a change of paradigm, that requires changing the focus from active based asset management towards the digitalization that ensures resiliency and security for the future electric systems. In this context, we need to contribute and stimulate the exchange of ideas from different perspectives and experiences, creating a framework of reflection through these series of webinars. The expected benefit and impact is the identification of opportunities within the complexity associated with the change of paradigm. En este seminario, la Dra Marina Oluić (Svenska kraftnät, Suecia) nos hablará sobre el desarrollo del sistema eléctrico de Suecia y los retos clave asociados a la estabilidad. Título: Development of the Swedish power system and key stability aspects Ponente: Marina Oluić (Svenska kraftnät, Sweden) Fecha: Jueves 23 de enero, 2025 Hora: 16:30 - 18:30 (CET) Idioma: Inglés Formato híbrido: asistencia online o presencial Lugar: ETSI ICAI, Universidad Pontificia Comillas, Alberto Aguilera 25, 28015 Madrid, Madrid, España. Aula Pérez del Pulgar. Seminario gratuito Contenido: The power system is changing rapidly, which creates major challenges for the system operational reliability, stability and balancing. We are moving towards a power system with a higher share of weather-dependent electricity production that is connected via power electronics/converters, while at the same time the predictable electricity production constitutes a decreasing portion of the total volume. Generation is also increasingly connected to the distribution system instead to the transmission system, and more large loads/consumption facilities are being present. There is also a geographical redistribution of both electricity production and consumption, which leads to changed power flows. In addition, more converters are being commissioned elsewhere in the power system, for example in HVDC systems, battery storage and end users in energy-intensive industries, etc. These are just some of the challenges that the Transmission System Operators (TSOs) worldwide are facing nowadays. In this specific seminar, Marina will briefly present the main mission, task, role and collective responsibility of the Swedish TSO (Svenska kraftnät) while particularly focusing on: - the ongoing and foreseen development of the Swedish power system and on - the key stability aspects (as well as related challenges/opportunities and potential measures) that follow this development and are to be addressed in order to tackle the energy transition. Finally, as the IEEE PES Diversity Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Committee Initiatives Member, Marina will close the presentation by reflecting upon the DEI mission and its current activities. El acceso al REGISTRO es: https://events.vtools.ieee.org/event/register/462137 For further information: : https://events.vtools.ieee.org/event/register/462137 The IEEE PES ESPAÑA System issues participation certificates in these to the attendees under request. The necessary condition for the System to issue the certificate is that the attendee must participate with at least one voice question during the question time. Looking forward to seeing you. IEEE SPS 1st Winter School on AI for 6G Communications

C/ Pérez del Toro, 1, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Canarias, Spain, 35002

The purpose of this Winter School is twofold. The primary objective is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the enabling technologies and core research challenges shaping the evolution of 6G networks, with a special emphasis on the convergence of Artificial Intelligence and its application to cloud and edge computing. Tutorials and Presentations will provide insights into key technologies and tools for network programming, distributed systems, orchestration, and virtualization, as well as other fundamental topics in machine learning and deep learning applied to networks. Sessions will go into both theoretical and practical aspects of network sensing, edge intelligence, AI-driven networking, and the design of disaggregated, programmable networks, identifying critical emerging research topics within the broader 6G framework. The second objective is to familiarize students with the advanced tools and methodologies supported by the UNICO I+D projects 6G-CLARION, 6G-RIEMANN, and SORUS, which pioneer research in these cutting-edge areas. The Winter School will feature dedicated sessions on these topics, enabling students to gain valuable experience with state-of-the-art research tools.
